Choosing a Home for the Climate Crisis
This is a climate story in 3 parts:
1) The climate crisis is real, causing changes to all sorts of systems we depend on for life. In 2016, Meghan was looking for a place to call home after working abroad. Among many factors, her background in renewable energy, witnessing changing climate in Bangladesh and India, and grounding in environmental justice in the United States weighed heavily in her decision-making.
2) Those changes aren’t evenly distributed around the globe. Central IL has a lot of potential for successful climate adaptation: rich soils deposited by ancient glaciers; rainfall, wind, and weather patterns; community size, and composition.
3) To make the most of this potential, we must grapple honestly with uncomfortable truths about needs, wants and capacities. With great privilege comes great responsibility. What might it look like for Blo-No to adapt and prepare for our changing reality at the individual and community levels?
