TEDxNormal 2025

Heartland Community College
TEDxNormal returns on April 5, 2025 from 9am-12pm at Heartland Community College. It’s the 10th anniversary of TEDxNormal in central Illinois and we’re excited to bring together everyone whose life has been changed by being a part of this extraordinary community. As a nod to the original tagline, this year’s theme is “Still Anything But Normal!”
This year’s theme explores what it means to commit to nonconformity and continue to challenge the status quo. It’s a refusal to settle for broken tools, processes, and systems because it’s always been done this way. It’s a true adventure of curiosity and innovation. The world is full of pressure to mass produce, standardize, and quantify life into predictable outcomes. How can we keep making space for new ideas in a risk-averse environment? If you have an idea to share, apply today!
We are especially interested in Talks that relate to the TED categories of: Technology, Art & Entertainment, and Social Sciences. Speaker applications are open until December 15, 2024. The application takes a few minutes to complete. Be prepared to tell us a little bit about you and upload a short video explaining your idea.
Ideas Worth Spreading
“TEDxNormal taught me a lot about presenting. As a professional speaker, I get to do lots of talks that are 45 minutes or longer. You’ve got 10 minutes to get your point across.” Mike Veny
“I hope that my video makes a significant impact on one person’s life. Positive comments and view counts will help me feel confident about the talk I gave but I just want to help someone.” Michael Luchies
“TEDx is about telling stories. People learn best through stories and remember them long after the talk is over. Forcing myself to tell MY stories was a great, transformative event.” Lisa Bodell
