“Empowering Your Community Relationships to Help Transform Cancer Research”
Early detection of cancers and improvement of education among young adults for whom cancer incidence is on the rise makes my idea relevant especially as I practice much of my ideas here in the Bloomington/Normal community every day.
Not only do I possess the training as a community hematologist/oncologist and physician partner, but also I have current experience as a collaborative physician champion for such research platforms as Count Me In and advocacy groups as Fight Colorectal Cancer. I am the ResearcHER ambassador for the American Cancer Society in my local region of Illinois tasked with encouraging women-led research in our community. I am the site principal investigator for the international pancreatic cancer early detection (PRECEDE) consortium. Currently I attend monthly lab meetings under the invitation of a thoracic oncologist researcher at Dana Farber studying lung cancer women and young adults. Additionally, I have taken multiple leadership and communications training which have allowed me to become an avid storyteller as an executive film producer for the multiply Emmy Award- nominated Abundance Studios, as well as co-authoring a book with Jack Canfield and appearing on a TV show with Chris Voss.
